Active Shooter in Atlanta

Maybe I'll send a check for thoughts and prayers to Kemp later on today.

by Anonymousreply 3May 3, 2023 6:21 PM

I've got the police scanner on (I'm a dyke). They don't sound terribly concerned.

by Anonymousreply 4May 3, 2023 6:23 PM

CCTV footage of the shooter:

All the shooters aren’t disaffected young white men now. The epidemic is spreading to other population groups.

Please don't let him be.....

DAMN.

by Anonymousreply 8May 3, 2023 6:29 PM

North side Hospital is in a nice part of town, isn’t it? Not that it matters.

by Anonymousreply 9May 3, 2023 6:30 PM

I hope he doesn't have an AR15.

by Anonymousreply 10May 3, 2023 6:31 PM

It's Atlanta. Who else would it be ?

[quote] They don't sound terribly concerned.

Neither am I.

The Sandy Hook 1st graders were sliced to ribbons by gunfire and this country didn't do shit about it.

Accordingly, since then, I've factored into my routine, daily existence that at any moment I could be killed, or worse - permanently maimed- by gunfire, at any second of my day.

And child sacrifices to the Gods of Gun Manufacturers Profits carry on.

We live in an obscene society, and, apparently, that's just the way we want it.

Fuck "concern".

by Anonymousreply 12May 3, 2023 6:38 PM

Hey y’all. I’m in my office in lockdown directly across the street from this. One dead three injured they’re saying, so not such a big deal in the scheme of things at this point. Rumor is he shoot his mother. This is the third shooting lockdown in about 5 years in the building.

by Anonymousreply 13May 3, 2023 6:50 PM

Can I have your stuff, r13?

by Anonymousreply 14May 3, 2023 6:53 PM

Watching CNN. His mother is not a victim. It was thought she was. But she isn't.

by Anonymousreply 15May 3, 2023 7:06 PM

Per the scanner, he just carjacked someone.

by Anonymousreply 16May 3, 2023 7:08 PM

It must be a day that ends in y.

by Anonymousreply 18May 3, 2023 7:20 PM

It's weird that I feel like the last one before this was the school shootings in Nashville so am I forgetting one in between or did we really somehow go that long between mass shooting.

by Anonymousreply 19May 3, 2023 7:23 PM

We will not be covering this particular shooting.

by Anonymousreply 20May 3, 2023 7:25 PM

R19, I think Louisville was after Nashville but they really do blend together at this point.

by Anonymousreply 21May 3, 2023 7:27 PM

There was a rare day off on May 1st in honor of the Met Gala.

Perchance were there any common elements to these incidents?

by Anonymousreply 23May 3, 2023 7:32 PM

So, are hospitals shootings de rigueur now? It's so hard to keep up with the latest trends. In my day, schools were fashionable. I guess they're not fancy enough for some shooters anymore.

by Anonymousreply 25May 3, 2023 7:36 PM

Garbage government of the USA.

by Anonymousreply 26May 3, 2023 7:38 PM

Shooter's name is Deion Patterson.

by Anonymousreply 27May 3, 2023 7:40 PM

440,000,000 civilian firearms

If there was a buy back and they got 50% turned in, at $500 a gun, (they wouldn't get 50%)

the cost would be:

22,000,000,000

by Anonymousreply 28May 3, 2023 7:42 PM

I'm sure the gun manufacturers could chip in r28

by Anonymousreply 29May 3, 2023 7:45 PM

If the government didn’t pass any laws when it was all the schools or the Vegas concert… they’re not changing anything for this one. Godspeed. Go about your day.

by Anonymousreply 30May 3, 2023 7:45 PM

FYI" The shooting did not happen in Northside Hospital which is located miles away to the north in the Buckhead section of the city of Atlanta. Rather it happened at the Northside Family Medicine and Urgent Care location in Midtown. They are 2 separate facilities and only one of them is a hospital and as I wrote above & that hospital is in Buckhead.

Another piece of shit who feels entitled to decide about everyone else's lives. I hope his death is very, very painful.

I also wish terrible things on the congresspeople who are stopping the rest of the government from doing anything to help stop this shit. SOMETHING is ALWAYS better than nothing and the "thoughts and prayers" that are and have been offered are worth NOTHING.

by Anonymousreply 32May 3, 2023 7:48 PM

Has Congresswoman Geico commented yet?

by Anonymousreply 33May 3, 2023 7:50 PM

^^^ I don't know. Check in with the nra hq to see if they've heard from her...

by Anonymousreply 34May 3, 2023 7:52 PM

Maybe she will make a short speech ("Thoughts and prayers! We need to turn to Jesus!") while wiping her crocodile tears with her thousand dollars bills that she was given by the NRA

by Anonymousreply 35May 3, 2023 7:58 PM

And it’s just as expected, some here make this a race issue.

Well, I guess It is: the human race is a failed species and the sooner we’re shown the proverbial door into non-existence, the better.

by Anonymousreply 36May 3, 2023 8:06 PM

Well, at least they know who he is. They'll either catch him relatively soon or they'll find his body somewhere with a self inflicted gunshot to his noggin.

by Anonymousreply 37May 3, 2023 8:06 PM

[quote] All the shooters aren’t disaffected young white men now. The epidemic is spreading to other population groups.

Spreading? Honey.

We don’t particularly notice or care what color of skin is pulling our trigger.

I wish I felt motivated enough to have an active lifestyle, but who can blame me? Columbus, Ohio weather is the halitosis of the Midwest. Everybody here has the pallor of earthworms 🪱. We have plenty of couch potato shootings.

by Anonymousreply 44May 3, 2023 9:21 PM

He’s in Cobb County supposedly.

by Anonymousreply 45May 3, 2023 9:54 PM

Thank you R31. The CNN reporter on the scene described it as a building with multiple practices with the hospital at the top. The Hospital is on the top floors? Never heard of that. I assume the Urgent Care is on the main floor?

Maybe someone planning on shooting but not doing it yet?

by Anonymousreply 49May 3, 2023 10:31 PM

A passive shooter is a bottom

The mother of the Atlanta gunman who opened fire at a hospital, killing one woman and injuring four others, blamed a medication mix-up for the shooting.

His mother, Minyone Patterson, told The Daily Beast: 'The damn VA gave him some messed up medication. And all he wanted was an Ativan (pill for anxiety).'

The Coast Guard has confirmed that Patterson was enlisted with them in 2018, before being discharged from active duty in January 2023. 'Mr. Patterson entered the Coast Guard in July 2018 and last served as an Electrician’s Mate Second Class.'

by Anonymousreply 52May 3, 2023 10:56 PM

I believe the building just houses medical practices and there aren’t patient beds there. The Northside Hospital is several miles north.

CNN is reporting all the victims are women.

by Anonymousreply 55May 4, 2023 12:43 AM

This is outrageous, op. And the suspect looks like a normal guy, more attractive than most and not an incel. Did he kill his girlfriend at her job?

by Anonymousreply 56May 4, 2023 1:06 AM

Did he show up to kill his girlfriend on her job and the other victims are collateral damage? Only one woman was killed and the others have survived this shooting

by Anonymousreply 57May 4, 2023 1:11 AM

CBS says that the suspect was in the waiting room with his mother

by Anonymousreply 58May 4, 2023 1:43 AM

Captured.

Patterson fled the 11th floor of the hospital in the bustling Midtown commercial and residential district and carjacked a vehicle, which was later recovered in suburban Cobb County, north of the city.

by Anonymousreply 59May 4, 2023 1:53 AM

Sounds like he was going thro benzo withdrawal. I get it. What I don't get is why he went to swasticobb county. Cobb stands for Count on Being Busted

Ativan? I would think he missed his Thorazine injection instead.

Who goes armed to a medical appointment? What an asshole.

Serbians are obviously smarter and more pro-life than American Republicans. First school shooting and they already and rightfully say: ENOUGH!

Serbia is awash with weapons left over from the wars of the 1990s but mass shootings still have been extremely rare — this is the first school shooting in Serbia’s modern history....

“The Ministry of Interior is appealing to all gun owners to store their guns with care, locked up in safes or closets so they are out of reach of others, particularly children,” police said in a statement that also announced tightened controls on gun owners in the future....

Serbian teachers’ unions announced protests and strikes to demand changes and warn about a crisis in the school system. Hundreds of students and their parents protested in front of the education ministry, demanding resignations....

The U.S. has an unique pro-gun position, probably because it's in the Constitution. Other countries are able to respond more appropriately such as New Zealand relatively recently when some guy shot up mosques - their PM Ardern was able to get a ban on on the sale of all types of semi-automatic weapons and assault rifles as well as a buy-back scheme through within days (and this despite the fact she was only PM because of the support of a far right party).
